Watermark for Content Protection

Content protection solutions based on digital watermark IDs ensure identification of individual copies to facilitate forensic tracking and investigation of pirate samples.

Content security benefits

• Uniquely identify screeners, previews, browsing versions, daily rushes and SD or HD digital master copies with an individual watermark embedded within the essence of the video content,

• Investigate DivX files on Internet Peer to Peer networks as well as black market SVCDs or DVDs,

• Easily trace any pirate sample back to the source of leakage.

Use cases

Post-production and duplication laboratories already use Nextamp’s technology as a value added service for rights owners. The solution first addresses studios for circulation of dailies, promotion of feature films prior to theatrical release and distribution of masters to airlines, broadcasters and VoD service operators. It also applies to DVD editors for press kits prior to movie releases for home entertainment.

Products

NexMaster
The NexMaster solutions address file based and tape based formats in SD or HD (720p, 1080i) resolution. Each Master copy is processed to include an invisible and robust digital watermark ID.
The watermark embedding is performed in non-compressed video format for tapes (e.g. BetaSP, DigiBeta, HDcam, DVCpro, D5) or files (YUV, DPX, Targa, Cineon). Furthermore, compressed video formats (MPEG2, H.264) can also be processed without need for decoding the file, hence facilitating the generation of multiple copies after a single encoding.

NexScreener
The NexScreener system is a complete solution to embed a unique ID in the essence of each DVD copy and to drive individual DVD-R burning and label printing with a serial number. The operator can easily import lists of recipients and define duplication projects by batches of DVDs. The processing is fully automated and the system is scalable to integrate multiple duplication robots. The watermark embedding is performed directly within the MPEG-2 format.

NexInvestigator
Thanks to the NexInvestigator, the invisible watermark can be retrieved from severely degraded pirate samples - e.g. a DivX file on the Internet or a DVD on the black market - even in case of resolution change, rotation, cropping, A/D conversion and compression.
